My research focus is threefold. Firstly, I am dedicated to understanding social contagion dynamics, examining them through the multidisciplinary lenses of physics, epidemiology, sociology, economics, and marketing. I aim to integrate local-interaction-based (bottom-up) models and global-information-based (top-down) models to interconnect social contagion processes with social construction. Through this approach, I strive to explore the potential for guiding the social construction process towards more preferable futures.
Secondly, I am interested in the diffusion of technology and innovation in the context of network externalities. By relaxing the assumption of complete information and incorporating network topologies, I aim to identify network-based strategies rooted in local network effects.
Lastly, I am keen on deciphering the process and mechanism by which reality and futures are socially constructed. Given the significant role that language plays in the social construction process, I place considerable emphasis on linguistic analyses. Specifically, using Natural Language Processing (NLP), I analyze social media data, such as TED talk scripts, to monitor the social construction process of public agendas over time. Similarly, I apply Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) to patent abstracts and claims to analyze technology trends. These linguistic analyses allow me to identify emerging issues and trends early and predict major shifts in society and technology.
